I build one or two homes a year.

Not because I could not build more — because this is what it takes to build them the way I do. I am on the job. Every day. It is my name on the house.

In thirty-nine years I have never built the same home twice.

The difference

I am not a manager‑builder.

Most builders at this level hire a superintendent and visit. I do not. I am personally on your site, through every phase, from the first core drilling to the last coat of paint — and I am available to you around the clock while your home is being built.

Every home I take on is designed with the homeowner, from the ground up. I have never duplicated one. They are not products. They are not spec houses waiting for a buyer. They are built once, for the family who will live in them.

I handle all of it — the house, the grounds, the landscaping, the outdoor living, the whole site. And the subcontractors on my projects build to my standard, not their own. Many of them work for other builders who do not ask for it.

A condition of the work

I will not build on ground that has not been tested.

Not “I recommend it.” I will not do it. If an owner is unwilling to pay for the soil to be geo‑tested and the foundation engineered from that report, I decline the project. It is not a position I am willing to negotiate.

Where a span exceeds what dimensional lumber can carry, it gets structural engineering. Where a site is exposed — a house on a point, with two miles of open lake in front of it — the wind gathers across all of that before it ever reaches a wall. That gets engineered for, in advance, before anyone breaks ground.

This is what meticulous actually costs. It is why I take on so few homes.

Afterwards

I do not hand over the keys and drive away.

I am still in contact with homeowners I built for ten and twenty years ago. If something needs attention, or they simply want to add on, they call me — and I answer. That is not a warranty policy. It is what the relationship actually is.

About eighty per cent of my work comes by referral, and my clients from two decades ago will still pick up the phone and tell you what it was like. Current references are available on request.

My job is to walk away — and for them to be completely happy with what I have left behind.
